This website has been created by the Friends of the Heritage Village, an incorporated association that has been around for as long as the Heritage Village itself!
We love the Heritage Village and through this website would like to share our passion with you.
The Friends of the Heritage Village work in close cooperation with Rockhampton Regional Council, which owns and operates the Village. We have provided information here not only about the Village itself but also about the services it provides. Friends of the Heritage Village
The Friends of the Heritage Village have been around since prior to the conception of the Rockhampton Heritage Village in early 1998 and have been busy ever since!
With a deadline fast approaching for the first Australian Bush Festival and opening of the Rockhampton Heritage Village in May, volunteers were called upon to sign up, and many heard that call.
The Friends of the Heritage Village have regular meetings to keep up to date with the running of the Village, preparing for upcoming events and future planning.
Like all good organisations, the Friends of the Heritage Village is run by a constitution with four key points that they pride themselves on;
- To help maintain the preservation of the present collection at the Rockhampton Heritage Village as owned by the Rockhampton City Council
- To restore and maintain where possible, any item considered to be of Heritage value to the Rockhampton Area
- To assist in the financial running of the Rockhampton Heritage Village by holding fund raising events regularly
- To promote friendship between like minded people who are interested in the growth and preservation of our Rockhampton Heritage Village.
Most importantly, the Friends of the Heritage Village believe our history is important and that it should be accessible and experienced by the people.
They hope that they will forever be able to offer this experience to whomever wishes to learn. If you have a passion for the history of Rockhampton and the surrounding areas and have time to spare, consider becoming a Friend of the Heritage Village and volunteer today.
